Estelle Getty passed away this morning at her home in Los Angeles. She was 84. Estelle was surrounded by her family and friends when she went away. She suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for years.

I never really cared too much for the Golden Girls show itself, but she was the most amusing character out of the cast. May she rest in peace.

Oh my goodness! This is very sad indeed to read. I really liked her acting. She was also in the movie, "Mask". She played Cher's mom in that one.

I use to watch the Golden Girls with my parents. I still catch it on reruns here and there. Estelle Getty's chaacter Sophia had the best one-liners. She always got the better of the other characters.

This is sad news. I grew up watching the show and still catch it sometimes. I thought it was hilarious, her especially. She was 84 and had very advanced dimensia, so she's in a much better place now.
