Without Spitzer's help, I would've been toast by the I.R.S.!

Seriously, this kind of stuff happens in Washington D.C. all the time! Even if some people get caught, it's still going to go on. That's how shadey our politicians are in general. No one is without sin!

New York seemed a lot better when I was growing up. Now, I just don't know...

I know it happens all the time. That much I know. What gets me is that Spitzer has always poised himself as a clean cut guy, and here he is, going behind his wife's back and having sex with girls from a escort service . . . a high charging escort service.

Being that I work for a bank, the Bank Secrecy Act is a huge thing to blow in the eyes of the Feds. Regardless whether it goes on or not, I feel horrible for his wife and daughters. His wife looked as if she would have rather been anywhere else than in that room by her husband's side.

This is the evil world of politics! Families are usually hurt in the crossfire! In this world, it's like a card game...except the cards are usually scandals the politicians are involved in. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. You do what I say on X, I'll reward you with X. If you don't, I'll expose you on X-scandal to the press and the Feds!

I'm strongly against congestion pricing in NYC. It looks all rosy and simple in the commercials but we have to be aware of the consequences, financially. Prices in the city (and neighboring boroughs) will increase because truck and delivery men will demand higher wages and costs because they have to pay more to get into the city. Not all deliveries can come at 7:00am because some shipments come from far away states and getting to Manhattan may come by 5:00pm during rush hour. It's not just clothing, electronics, and other merchandise that's going to raise. The price of food will raise also. If the common worker who comes in 8 to 4 has to pay this (not everyone takes public transportation because people actually HAVE to come to work on time...companies are so anal that 1 or 2 minutes late means a deduction of 1/2 hour wages!-I'm not kidding!), the common worker would demand a voucher to pay for the tolls. If not, you might see a massive exodus to other parts of New York or other states.

Spitzer supports congestion pricing and this scandal actually hurts the chances of it going through. To me and a number of other people, that's a good thing. To everyone who supports it, it's a disaster!

I'm in the wrong business, I should have started a Cos-Play Escort Service. Imagine the big bucks sci-fi dorks, Anime nerds, and comic geeks would pay to be with someone dressed and acting like their fantasy character....$$

Seriously though, what he did was morally wrong and if it wasn't for the fact that it goes against all his political voicing, I'd say leave it alone and let his family sort it out. But unfortunately, since it is so closely tied to his political position it affects a lot of people.

What gets me is that politicians know that they are in the public light. They know that someone somewhere will be watching everything they do. So why risk it?

Mark, I work for one of those companies. We dock for being late without good reason, or you need to use 'sporadic time'.

I work in Buffalo, NY, not the most happening city, but its a good city. I'm against congestion pricing too, so I don't know if I understand your point here.

I don't care about Spitzer, personally. I didn't vote for the man, and I wasn't all that happy with the job he's done so far in NY. He made his way to Buffalo quite a few times, and the alleged 'phone call' that set him up in DC happened about five blocks from my home, at Shorty's Sports Bar and Grill in Niagara Falls on near 27th street and Pine Avenue. I live between 27th and 24th street, five avenues down. Do you think I'm excited to see the media crawling all over my neighborhood??

I thought many of his 'clean up' polices stunk, quite honestly. I never thought he (or Hillary "Carpetbagger" Clinton) ever did much in the way of making good on their campaign promises for Western New York. We still (like much of the state) live in poverty, the city's biggest industry is the Native American Casino, and not to begrudge them, don't get me wrong here, I respect what they have achieved and support their fight to have the NYS government lay off of them trying to be NY's tax collectors for their products.

But we as a city and the state have done little to nothing to capitalize on the casino's success.

Am I for Spitzer? Heck no! Not even before this happened.

Am I for his family? Heck YEAH!!! Regardless what dirty politics is or is not, claiming to be 'squeaky clean' while money laundering and whoring behind the backs of your wife and daughters is just - plan - wrong.

Period.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your point, Mark, I'm just saying that I have one too, and I have a right to feel the way I do, 'evil world of politics' or not. That's what's wrong with this world as a whole. Forget about politics. The world in general hurts families. And I'm sorry to say that I know what those kids are going to have to go through. My heart goes out to them, and to the wife.

For the good of our state of New York, Eliot Spitzer . . . do the right thing and RESIGN. Don't use your office to make a deal and keep yourself out of jail, when the regular joe would have no recourse. Say goodbye, let David Patterson in there, and let's get 'really' get something done here in NY, before there's nothing left of NY except high gas prices and residence continuing to find their places in South Carolina and other points south.

I guess my post lead you to believe I was pro-Spitzer. No, I'm not. Sure, I discharged what I allegedly owe to the I.R.S. (and any future taxes) with the help of Spitzer but any governor who can read could sign off on that.

As for morality... that depends on one's perception (I'm beginning to sound like the politicians I hate). The way he did it was the problem. He was too sloppy and now he's paying for that. I do feel sorry for his family because it's such a high profile and they all have to keep up the false smiles to the press even if they want to yell at him. Maybe Patterson would be better...maybe.

Only time will tell if Paterson is any better. (or 'Patterson': Honestly the media's spelled his last name two different ways, and honestly I know nothing of the man because I didn't vote for him or his running mate) Razzer

Mark, I'm cool. And I'm sorry if I seem to have lost mine. Not my intention at all. I just get so sick and tired of career politicians making off with the public's money for the sole purposes of spending $80,000.00 on repeated call girl appointments, dating back as far as 2002. If he wants to make his family priority now, and NY along with them, he needs to stop down - now.

(and that's not to say that EVERY politican does that, lest someone think I meant that. I'm speaking figuratively.)

I guess this was publicity NY just didn't need, huh? Confused

Maybe we should bring back the Ten Commandments:

Thou shall not commit adultery---That was a good one. I think people have forgotten that. Roll Eyes

Adultery has been distorted over the cultures. Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia -

"In Judaism, adultery was forbidden in the seventh commandment of the Ten Commandments, but this did not apply to a married man having relations with an unmarried woman. Only a married woman engaging in sexual intercourse with another man was considered to be adultery, in which case both the woman and the man were considered guilty."

I don't believe in that but it goes to show these things are a matter of one's perspective. I do believe Wikipedia is Mason-influenced!

Sounds like Spitzer has adopted the Cossack The Terrible's sex trade.

The cannon supports about 180 pounds if fired correctly.
