Hello, with my html website due soon, I am overhauling VoltronUniverse.com, which means a new banner.

Changed it to a link so people can choose to see it. Also, if you think it needs work, please state what your opinion on what would be a good change.

So, how do you, the Voltron fans like this possible banner?

this may be biased since I'm an LF fan over VF, but since people read left to right, and since LF came first, I would say switch it around to have LF on the left. Maybe add some character shots too to take up some empty space.

No, no, keep VV on the left. After all, he is "Voltron I".


K2C, I'd suggest making the width of the banner smaller. As it is now it's way too big for 800x600 users and will cause side-scrolling for them.

I think I would move the Voltron shots down so they meet the bottom of the banner, or else put something else in that space or frame them somehow, to avoid the floating Voltron torso effect.

I have decided to scrap that banner and go with another, but sorry SGB...800X600 is a dying breed, and the majority (60%) use 1028X760, and that is what I'm formatting the page as.

The new banner is formatted as 1000px wide, and 112px high

I say this with respect, but "dying breed" is a lame excuse.

Sites that don't keep 800x600 users in mind are a pain to navigate and can deter such users from coming back. Side-scrolling and sites that don't take 800x600 users into consideration is one of my 'net pet peeves.

Sorry, I can understand your position, but with screens going as big as they are and some users with setting their screen resolutions to 1280X1024 or even higher...The lower end of the resolution tends to get left out in the cold.

I was looking into a code that could possibly contract and expand to each users specific screen resolution, but haven't perfected it yet. Because what looks good in one resolution doesn't look good on the other end of the spectrum stretched out/shrunk down.

With any luck, this new look and updated code will be done on this Wednesday...the due date for this project.

The new layout was a cool idea, but the current layout works so nicely, and this way all I have to do is clean up old code, so I'm still doing a bunch of work, but not necessarily as much.
