Speed Racer Trailer

I believe there was a thread a long time ago about the cartoon/anime Speed Racer being made into a movie.

Well here's the trailer and I would say that the only thing going for it is the action... the dialogue is terrible

Now we just need the DragonBall live action movie to make this complete o.O

Hmmm, looks somewhat interesting. I am going to try to keep an open mind about it but the racing scenes do look pretty sweet.

Looks silly. I am embarrased for them.

Not exactly what I had in mind...but at least they didn't redesign the car.

Things that make you go "Hmmmmm..." for $1000 please, Alex.

Honestly, there's not really a great way for them to do this movie at all. It looks very...Joel Schumaker-y....

I'll probably watch it sometime, but not likely in the first-run theatres.

This looks more like a dvd rental to me.

I'll probably go see it at the cheap theatre matinee for $3. hehe =)

You boys have a lot of faith. I'm going to take a pass on this one. Unless I hear from creditable people that it was worth the view, I think I'll place that on the back burner with Josie and the Pussycats movie.

After Transformers I've learned to give a little in the "benefit of the doubt" arena. The character acting may not seem that great in the trailer, but the racing scenes might make it worth viewing.

I saw the full trailer for Alving and the Chipmunks and I plan on seeing that this weekend.

Oh I'm going to Alvin this weekened and next weekend, we're going to see the National Treasure sequel. Can't wait for that!!

National Treasure....It wasn't a horrible movie, but I just got hung up on something in it and I can't get past it...

Why did his dad have like..15 freakin' lemons in his fridge?! Who has that many lemons on hand at any given time!!! Nick Cage's character EXPECTED him to have enough lemons!!! WTF?!?!?!

Maybe the dad likes lemonade...or he has a lot of vodka to go along with the lemons.

Watching this bizarre trailer reminded me of two equally odd ones I've seen this year, both for movies that ended with different results: Beowulf and Southland Tales. I'm guessing it could be like Crank -- so crazy, you either get into it, or not.

My eyes feel raped. On drugs, this will certainly be amazing, but clean? It out-Spy Kids 3-Ds Spy Kids 3-D. Bring me a monkey with arms akimbo forthwith!

If you try to tell me the Wachowskis cannot make a car chase, you can go to f*ck. Don't think this is going to be anything deep, but ultra-entertaining it could be. Nice to see a film totally unconcerned with realism. It looks like a Tsui Hark film with a budget of ∞.

I wouldn't have thought that would even be filmable, but visuals have always been the department where the Wachowskis usually score in the 98th percentile, and if they can't make something this ludicrously over-the-top work...no one can.

So yeah: eyecandy-carpetbombing, ninjas, and monkeys equals a certain amount of "win" right out of the gate. Roger Allam doesn't hurt, either. And was that bowler hats on thugs I saw in there? Extra points for those, too.

The friggin' Matrix Twins are back!



I really like how they aren't trying to rationalize every characteristic of the series, and simply just rolling with the insanity. It's a fresh approach, at least. Personally, "live-action animé" sounds like a threat, not a selling point.

But, on the other hand...monkeys. Torn.

The women in the back of the picture of John Goodman were nice looking. I'm guess the older lady is John Goodman's character's wife. Not sure who the young girl is (I never watched the original Speed Racer show). Though, her wardrobe (pajamas) do seem a little revealing for anyone young.
