I literally just heard it on the news. It's on CNN right now (the regular CNN, NOT Headline News). I'll get an article to it, as soon as one comes up.

While that sucks, we honestly do not need to know this. I mean come on, had he just been some shmoe on the street, nobody would give two ****s about it, but because it is a Senator, we get to listen to his whole freaking life story. Isn't anything private anymore? What happened to personal space?

The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red.

Well, when you enter public office, you give up a lot of your 'personal' life. The reason being that in order to have trust in the capabilities of our public officials, we need to know something about them on a personal level.

In the case of Senator Edward Kennedy, he is a senior member of the Senate who now has a life threatening illness. It is certainly VERY important to the people of Massachusetts that their representative in the Senate could potentially die. It could lead to a special election for them, and that's something that if you can avoid being blindsided by, it's for the best. Additionally, it affects his capability to do his job if he's in the hospital constantly.

For the general public, the potential death of Ted Kennedy could change the face of politics, and would create a power vacuum in the Democratic party. These are very important things for Americans to know about their political system.

Ted Kennedy isn't just some celebrity. If it were Martin Sheen or something, I could see the 'private space' argument. But in the case of an important pubic official, the public has a right to know.

I've always had serious issues with some of Mr. Kennedy's vices...his drinking, supposed womanizing, etc...but when it came down to matters of public affairs, he's always had a strong voice, and was one that reached across the aisle to get things done. It'll be a different Senate without him should he be forced to leave office.

Judging by his weight, I'm surprised he's never had a heart attack.

Oh well, so much for his profession outside of the Senate:

Whether you agree with his politics or not, the man is dying. That is hardly something to poke fun at.

Hence my rickrolling. I couldn't think of a better way of voicing my annoyance with this thread... I kinda get nervous about voicing my dissent about stuff on here since I screw up my delivery so often.

Gankutsuou, while normally I don't comment on things you say, I have to agree with Rad's comment. When you're in the public eye, everything is fair game. Sadly, this is a big deal and I really feel bad for the Kennedy family, who's had to endure more than their fair share of heartache. I'm not a Ted Kennedy fan, but my compassion for his situation extends to him and his family.

I wish him well.

You're sick Nicole.

Aside from stating the obvious - I like Ted Kennedy, despite his drinking and womanizing. I'm not concerned with these issues regarding senators. I hate to bring up the ghost of Hitler but Mr. H was as clean-living a fellow as there ever was. Mr. Kennedy is a decent senator - moreso than most others - and if he dies it will be a terrible shame. He has the courage to stand by his convictions, and in politics that's always been very hard to do.
