I think I got some kind of virus or something on my computer that will not allow me to use ANY virus scanning software. The other night when I got home from work, McAfee was dead. If I tried to open it, it would close right away, when right clicking onto Virus Scan it would say it was already scanning, and when you enter their site, the window closes. I went to Norton's site, same thing happened. I had a disc for Zone Alarm, it wouldn't even keep the ZA windows open long enough to even type in the 12 digit code. Same goes for Trend Micro, and Webroot.

However, I first downloaded Webroot Spyspweeper, and got a scan which removed some big spyware, but when I upgraded to the Antivirus version, it now shuts off before it can even perform a scan.

Does anyone know how to figure out what I have, and how to get rid of it?

The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red.

Hey... just talked to my boyfriend about this -- he knows a thing or two about this kind of stuff. He said that sadly, this is probably one of those situations where things are so fubar on your computer that you should look to save whatever files you know for sure aren't corrupted by this virus (and yes, it definitely sounds like a virus) and just do a total wiping and reloading of all data on your hard drive. Which blows and is time consuming, but... yeah. Your situation ain't good there, doesn't sound like there's an alternative. Frowner

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Oh -- and for the future, with spyware, you definitely should get your hands on Spyware Search & Destroy. It's freeware and works great. I've been using it for years now, and it's saved me from a lot of hassle. If you run it regularly, you'll be keeping a lot of crap off your computer.

I got it fixed. One of the guys that works at Geek Squad fixed it for me since GS would have taken nearly two weeks to fix it due to how far behind they were.
