Last weekend, I went to Cincinnati, Ohio to take care of things in reference to my friend passing away. While up there, I had decided to revisit some places where I had lived & went to school.
The houses we had lived in were totally redone & to be honest, they looked like crap. When I went by the first house, which was a one car garage bi-level, I had said, "That's the house I had lived in when I had first discovered good ole' Voltron. A couple of my old schools were totally redone. Mt. Washington Elementary had new windows, which to be honest didn't look right. Eastern Hills Junior High looked exactly the same as it did when I went there in the late 80's. McNicholas Highschool has a new Athletic Center, which is where their Gym now is. It's about time, because it's rather tacky for a highschool to have the Gym & Auditorium in the same place. It's too elementary. McNicholas had built an Athletic Center, Baseball Diamonds, & Football field. When they built the Football fields, they didn't even bother to put in stadium seats & all like other highschools have. They must be still using other highschools' football fields to play their Home football games. They built all of that, but no bleachers. That's messed up. Withrow Highschool was the best place I had seen during my visit to Cincinnati. It's school so huge that it looks like a college. Well the old Vocational wing had gotten demolished, but the school still looks big. There are approximately 5 floors & the football field was redone. It had gotten a whole new makeover & I was really impressed with it. Taft Highschool looked the same as it did when I had graduated from highschool. However it did have a new football field. One thing about Cincinnati is that it's bigger than Louisville & has more to do. If I had any good memories of Cincinnati, it would be discovering Voltron. (LOL) While living in Cincinnati, I had lived on both the East & West sides. I had liked the West side better, because it has more character, plus the people are not as narrow & warped up. The East side totally sucked, because I had really bad experiences while living over there. I totally hated that side of Cincinnati, except now I did have fun on Eastern Avenue. The lower part of Eastern Avenue looked totally different, because all of the old buildings which were falling apart were replaced by condos. The upper part of Eastern Avenue & the Tusculum section looked the same as it did, except one of my friend's houses were painted a different color. If I had to go back & live in Cincinnati, I'd rather go live in Covington or the West side, because the East side sucked. What's really messed up is that McNicholas |

Depending on how long it has been since you were last here, I would bet a lot has changed. Cincinnati is bent on cleaning up and making everything new. They are even trying to put in a $7million cable car system looping downtown. They seem to think it will get people back downtown. Seems like a waste of tax money to me, there really is no reason to go downtown. If you ever do make it back up here Iris, the best place to go now days it Newport on the Leveey.
I did hear on the news a few weeks ago that the Reds (who they try to tell us is a professional baseball team) has a pitcher that they are calling "Voltron". The sports caster then had to explain to us who Voltron was in case we had never heard of him. Let's go Voltron Force! |
