Where did you buy it, Best Buy?

SGB did you get yours from WEP yet? Discs right?

By the way Tiffany Ilardi at WEP was nice enough to open 2 Golion Collection 1's and they were fine, Discs 1,2,and 3 were there. So at least WEP is aware of it now.

I got my Golion from Best Buy's online store. All the discs were correct and they seem to be working fine.

Not yet. It won't arrive until Monday or Tuesday.

That's good to hear. At least we now know that not all copies of the DVD were mispackaged.

admin told me that all of WEP's copies appeared to be fine, so it's likely any DVDs from WEP/voltron.com are unaffected.

Dang. Got mine from Amazon without a Disc 3.

Oh well... since I had to open the case to find that out anyway, I figured I might as well watch the other two before returning it. Just got done with the first episode... I was surprised at how different even the dialogue was--I guess I expected more overlap. And I noticed a few "extra" frames of animation that were cut from Voltron that didn't have anything to do with violence, so that was neat.

No question Voltron has better music. Shirogane's voice is awful, but the others grew on me.

As you said, dang.

Guess that means my Amazon copy, which has yet to arrive, could be missing Disc 3 as well.

Glad to hear that not all copies are affected by this problem. At least I'll have a few options to fall back just in case.

My order from Barnes & Noble is set to arrive tomorrow(friday), so I'll let y'all know then if that place is ok too.

Let us know if it is because their price just dropped so I might buy from them.

It amazes me that so many sets have the missing disc. Someone in packaging really wasn't paying attention. I could understand an occassional set having disc 3 missing, but I've worked in packaging and assembly in the past and if you have that many messed up sets then there should be some indication that something got screwed up.

Bob: Hey Ed!

Ed: Yeay?

Bob: Are we supposed to have this many disc 3s left over?

Ed: *does a quick count* I don't think so.

Bob: What do you want to do about it?

Ed: Just let 'em go. If there's a problem someone will send up a memo.

Got my copy today at Suncoast at the mall. They got their shipment in today. All 3 disc are in there so I guess poor Amazon got a bad batch. On a side note I hate the case.

Just got back from work to find Golion waiting by my door. Big Grin

My set has all three discs, so it looks like Barnes and Noble is safe; if anyone else is considering buying from them.

if anyone is wondering; there is no extras to speak of in the set, aside from trailers on disc 3(they advertise Gaigaogar, Vehicle Voltron, and one other series--I forgot what. The VV trailer is the same as in Voltron vol.5)

EDIT: now that I've looked at the first couple of episodes, I thought I'd put up a review, since no one appears to have done this yet.

Spoiler-free

Packaging:

pluses:
Attractive looking artwork, Golion logo looks well done.

minuis:
Artwork looks a little dark, backside looks a little like they're craming too much info on it. The burb looks a little small.

Video:
Same as the Voltron release.

Audio:
I thought the sound was a little bit on the low side. It's nothing that can't be fixed by turning up the volume, thought. Maybe it's just because it's in 2.0 mono(which is how the series was made)

Notes on contents(spoilor-free)

-Subtitles are yellow with outline, and appears to be fairly accurate to the Japanese dialouge.
Criticism: The Japanese language doesn't have swearing like in English, so "son of a bitch" is not the most accurate way of translating an expression.

-Subtitles for opening and ending credits are slightly different than the version presented on the 2nd Voltron set.

-No changes made to the opening/ending credits. All the Kanji are presented as-is. English translation of the Japanese credits are presented after the last episode of each disc.

-As some have said; the story and feel are VERY different than that of Voltron. The dialogue seems around 90% different. But then, this is just from looking at the first two episodes, which were heavily changed to make Voltron. Other episodes might be a little less different.

-It's very gratifiying to watch this series knowing I'm not missing a single frame of footage. But boy, it sures takes some getting used to watching these guys in a different language. Since Voltron and Golion are very different in storytelling and feel. I feel much better about owning the same footage twice. the two are so different; it really is better to think of them as two seperate series, rather than "another version of this."

-Ok, sight tiny, tiny, tiny spoiler:
Honerva(Haggar)'s cat is named Jaga. I just felt like pointing that out for some reason.

Overall, I am very pleased with this set, and itching to watch this throughout the weekend.
