I first caught wind of this possibility at tvshowsondvd.com
I just checked in with my area Best Buy (I live in Lexington, Kentucky), and they told me that they are expecting to receive "56 copies...possibly more" in the store tomorrow (Monday 9/11).
If you look in your Best Buy ads in your Sunday papers today, you will see Voltron Set 1 advertised for $22.99. You might want to give your local Best Buy a ring and find out if they have received some copies or may be expecting shipments arriving tomorrow (Monday 9/11).
You all, of course, can post your comments here...I'd be curious to know if any of the Best Buys in your areas have gotten any of these yet.
Sooooooo....who knows, some of us might indeed get V Set 1 as early as Tuesday 9/12......

Ive heard 9/16 here in Columbus, Ohio

They will arrive Tuesday morning in MA. Amazon has also dropped their price. Yay!

I don't understand, if Media Blasters has a set date to release the DVDs on the 26th, how is it possible fo stores to have it on their shelves before then?

So here is the official answer from MB:

In exchange for promotional consideration (the ad and such) Best Buy received a two week window before street date. Wal-Mart did also in exchange for placement.
Sorry that you haven't received copies yet, we haven"t either.
I apologize that you weren't aware of all of this, it did come together rather quickly recently.


There you go. If your the big dogs like Wal-Mart and BB you get favors.

I know alot of you that pre-ordered elsewhere are probably peeved (hey WEP is going out to buy them as well to get copies!) but it seems this is the way it works.

Awesome. I work at Best Buy now, so I can't wait to find out how much I get off with my discount. Of course, I also have Lethal Weapon 2 HD-DVD, Troy HD-DVD, FMA 13 and movie, Gankutsuou 6, and Star Wars 4-6 to pick up.

It comes with the 2004 editions of the movies too.

Agreed...if you buy these, you'll get suckered and screwed into more of George Lucas' same ol' crap.
The so-called "original theatrical versions" were off of the LaserDisc masters, so expect less than stellar results....that is, IF your widescreen TV can even format it properly.

I heard the video quality is even better than the old set I own for the new versions, plus I like the covers better and they match up with 1-3, and that is awesome.

I really don't give a damn about the original versions, video quality and all, but I may watch them once just to remember why the new version are much better.

It's official...BB's in Lexing-town has copies of Voltron Set 1 -- I'll be picking up my copy when the store opens Tues 9/12!!
