Best Buy is now showing Aug 26th for this... ugh...

The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red.

Looks like I'm the first to get this set, or at least the first to say it.

Thoughts/notes on the packageing(I've only looked at one episode at this point):

-Cover is the same as seen before, but quite a bit darker looking. I'm not crazy about the cover, but I think the preview version looked better. Note to Media Blaster: buy a light bulb, please!

-Back cover is really, really shameless in showing off all the blood in this show.
Have thou no shame?! razz
The one I like best is the guard screaming in agony.

-As you see from the scan, this set contains episodes 19-36, not 19-35 as some online stores reported.

-Inside cover is the same as in volume 1.

-Here's a scan of one of the discs. Note they keep the numbering from the last set. The disc surface has this glossy feel to it that I don't care for. I prefer the "feel" of the discs in set one.

Overall, I'm really excited to watch this set. Big Grin

I'm up to episode 26, and lovin' it so far.

I think that Hys is more unlikeable than Nanny. In Voltron, Nanny is mostly just overbearing and annoying, but in Golion Hys is also an elitist snob. In her first apperance, she dismiss the team as low-class riffrats, and even in episode twenty--by which point, she should have every reason to appreciate them--she dismisses them as "drifters" from Earth and states that they're suited to be "competent bodyguards" for the princess. If I was risking my life every day like the Golion team, I'd be just as super-pissed like they were over that bodyguard crack.

One Voltron/Golion difference that strikes me is how in Voltron, Hunk is crazy about food; but in Golion, Shorty is the one crazy about food(and yet he complains about Platt fatting himself up lol )

Episode 20 is really emotional and tragic.

The final shot of Sincline in episode 21 was really badass and creepy-looking.

Just got my set in the mail today.

I quite cheerfully took a black permanent marker to the front cover. Big Grin I will replace it with an image of my own.

Off to pop some popcorn and get to watching.

Up to episode 30.

Having seen this much; I'm thinking I like Golion better than Voltron. This version is much more coherent and there's much less scene recylcing. It's nice not to have to see the "Princess kisses Lance" five times. Golion comes across as a little more polished since you're not seeing the same scenes 3 or 4 times in different episodes.

I've already seen SGB's site, so I knew about most of the deleted scenes, but some of little details in dialogs and so forth surprised me. I sure was surprised to find out just how old Sincline is. I won't spoil it, but it's much more than I expected.

Episode 28 is a real bloodbath in more than one way. Razzer

Like episode 20, episode 30 is considerably more emotional and dramatic than the Voltron version.

My Amazon.com copy should be arriving today.

Probably won't get to watch much of it straight away because of the Olympics eating up my TV viewing time. razz

I recieved my Golion Collection 2 DVD yesterday (it was shipped from World Events) in the mail. I am enjoying it. A lot of things in Voltron that didn't make sense are cleared up from watching Golion. In Ep 21, the dialogue let's you know that Sincline raped Amue, which makes "Sven's" anger against Lotor at the end of the series have a lot more substance behind it. I also enjoyed Ep 20 when the Earth blows up, and Hys is a LOT more unlikeable than Nanny to me, she is a snob indeed.

I also thought it was interesting that in Ep 30, when the Princess "dies", the scene in Voltron where the Force is outside at night (discussing how she really isn't dead) was not in Golion at all. It was totally added in there by WEP. I knew the dialogue was, but i thought the scene would still be there. I too also enjoyed Lotor's age and also the Ep where his mother is discussed.

The scene in question is actually from episode nine, where the team were talking about the girl that alledgelly escaped from Galra. WEP added it in episode 30 to make their idea of "we know she's not really dead, but we're going to pretend she is" more plausible.

I liked the Golion version of that episode a lot more than the Voltron version. For one, there's none of that "oh we're just faking it, we're not really sad" silliness. In Golion, you get to feel how sad and emotional the characters are... I've even say this is probably the only time I felt a little sorry for Hys, since her worst nightmare was playing out. Plus, there's more of how much the Princess meant to everyone and how this is one of the worst thing that could happen.

Likewise, in episode 20, you really do feel how grief-stricken everyone is and how horrified they are to see what happened to Earth. And damn.... that ending sure was downbeat(also, I found Fala's plead of "Please, make Altea your Earth" to be rather touching). In Voltron, you don't feel that nearly as much since Keith twice says "don't worry, everyone made it to safety", which kinda guts the "OMG, they just blew up a whole planet!" feeling.

EDIT (to avoid double post):

One of the post above said that Best Buy would not get volume 2 until the 26th. However, I was at Best Buy today, and they DO have Golion vol. 2 there. There were six copies at my location.

You know, it really appeals to me that Sincline knows all the pilots by name--like in the Amazon and birthday party episodes, where he calls out Kurogane personally. It just pleases me every time for some reason. I'm pretty sure Lotor didn't know any of the pilots' names, except maybe Keith (in the original 52 episodes at least... I never watched V3D and I don't care for season two, so I've blocked out the details of those).
