I've been dying to find out this since I bought them. Who is the artist behind all the packing for the Anime Works collection box DVD sets 6-8 depicting "Vehicle Force VOLTRON" characters and mecha? This has been the best artwork illustration of "VFV/ D XV" since the Devil's Due Publishing comic book!!
There is just no credit given to anyone upon the DVD packing to know who or what did the illustrations!! Is any registered licensee selling reproductions of these illos? |

The artist who did the DVD artwork is Meredith Mulroney. She's Media Blasters' in-house artist.
I don't think there's any reproductions of her work being sold. |

So I take it that this Meredith Mulroney also drafted the work for a pull out poster of Anime Works/ Media Blasters' version of "Fleet of Doom" in "FUTURE ANIME" mags Summer 2009 issue? Looks the exact same handiwork. A "supposed" special collector's issue. Came out quite a number of months ago on newsstands. Almost passed it by myself. And again,.. no credit or even signature of the artist upon the poster either.
Whats strange is this is the kind of simple stuff fans would go for that you'd figure companys like Anime Works/ Media Blasters would release. How well known was a "Voltron" poster available "back in the day" 25 years ago? So far I judge Ms. Mulroney artwork as "T-shirt Pride" worthy. Something I had hoped to have seen happen of her artwork as additional merchandise to as the "VFV" DVD sets were being released. Have you liked any of those DVD illustrations? I haven't picked up "Voltron/ Golion" to know if her artwork adorns those DVD set packages either. Do they? Neither have I attended any anime conventions to know if her artwork had actually showed up within those circles. |

Do you have a pic of the poster? I haven't seen it (though I suspect it's the same image as Media Blasters' "Fleet Of Doom" DVD cover).
They do. All LV and VV DVD artwork was drawn by Meredith. |

Unfortunately no picture of poster to show, but you're right it is of that image: Golion Voltron at top overhead, forearms are crossed over with an exploding background behind; and with a full body drawing shot of Vehicle Voltron, below GV, balancing an active pair of spinning laser blades in hands as the Galaxy Garrison fleet roams through space behind VV as his background.
But here's the mags address and website: FUTURE US, Inc. 4000 Shoreline Court, Ste 400 South San Francisco, CA. 94080 www.futureus-inc.com "FUTURE ANIME" mags editor in chief was Gary Steinman. What's weird... is that the mags newsstand display date was up to 7/14/2009. eek! Who knows a stray copy could still be out there at $9.99. Hope this helps anyone reading. |

The artwork of LV and VV was done by Meredith. They're actually two separate pieces of art put together for the DVD cover. |

Yeah, figured as much that that "FLEET OF DOOM" DVD cover was a composite of elements. VV/ Dairugger was just one. In fact its used repeatedly in the VEHICLE VOLTRON DVD sets of late as a decorative background. Again, why no T-shirt of that image? Being utilized so much one would figure it would be. Talk about loss of opportunity.. and profit!

Oh yeah, that pic of Vehicle Voltron holding the spinning blazes is priceless!
I'm shock and disappointed that Voltron.com does not put that pic in the download section. It used to be on the news section where you have to scroll down. |

Well Reminator, we could write a polite letter to Media Blasters requesting they make Meredith Mulroney's artwork for both LV and VV available. Express our DEEP interest and DESIRE to acquire reproductions.
Though it would be best if we got everyone who is a member of this site to jump upon our bandwagon request. Any suggestions as to how to do that firstly? How many members are there here? You know,.. all this makes me wonder too ...about where to find the original animation character/ design sheets for DAIRUGGER XV!! Always have loved the various Drule Spaceruisers. |

I must correct myself here for the record.
The artist for both the LION VOLTRON and VEHICLE FORCE VOLTRON DVD box set packaging, and the renderer of Media Blasters DVD cover for "Voltron: Fleet of Doom" -that I and others here in this thread have been discussing should be known to credit as MERIDETH MULRONEY. Merideth is an graphic artist in the employ of MEDIA BLASTERS. My apologies for the misspelling of her name. |
