Okay, I went to my local Wal Mart and found out that while they DO have Voltron on DVD, it is NOT in the collector tin, but rather in the typical plastic DVD case that most DVD's come in.

Called over to my local Best Buy (why waste the gas if I am not in the area) and verified they have them in the collector tins.

So, while Wal Mart and Best Buy have them now, only Best Buy has them in the collector tins. Also, for $2.00 less than Wal Mart has them priced.

That's not right. I had my second copy of the dvd preordered at Walmart with a total charge of $37.20 after standard shipping. Now I find out I'm gonna get the stripped down version without the extras. I've cancelled my order with Walmart and I'm going to buy from Amazon.

Boy, I'm sure glad I got my Set 1 Tin at Best Buy!!!

Sadly, I got the Wal-Mart DVDs before I knew the story. I popped in disc 3; no special features. WHERE ARE THE SPECIAL FEATURES?? Then I finally got the scoop on this board. D'OH! So the next day I grabbed the full-blown DVDs at Best Buy. WOO-HOO!

Now I have to decide what to do with the Wal-Mart set. I can't just tell them it wasn't what I wanted, because the new digital copyright laws prohibit them from taking back CDs (and probably DVDs as well) unless they're defective in some way. I first discovered this when I tried to return a CD at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago. It only cost me a couple bucks, so I got over it. I know, LAME. But I do understand the intent of the law: To prevent people from buying CDs/DVDs and ripping them onto their PC and taking it back to the store, thus essentially getting the content for free. OK, I get that. But DUDE. I spent $25 for those stinking DVDs. So I'm tempted to just tell them they're defective, which isn't exactly the truth. But the way I see it, I obeyed the spirit and intent of the law because I didn't make copies, even if I'm technically not following the letter of the law. Or maybe I'll just tell them that the discs ARE in fact defective after I PUNTED THEM ACROSS MY LIVING ROOM when I realized that I had The Bastardized Wal-Mart Edition.

I was going to run to Walmart today and grab the dvd's when their truck came. Thanks to Brainchild I saved 25 bucks. Best Buy has more coming this week so I'll be sure to be there. I was talking to Brainchild while he was checking out all the extras. I wanted to watch ep 5 again because he said one of the pilots was simply a rough version of that ep. I poped in the Madman disc and watched all the extras first, 3 seconds later I started the actual episode.

Well, I tried to return it to Wal-Mart. I told them that the disc was "defective" because the special features didn't work, hehe. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten that even if the disc is defective you can only exchange it for another set. Dang DMCA! So now I'm exploring other options, such as trades or eBay.

Depending on whether they marked up your receipt or not, you could return it elsewhere.

I've done this when I found out Hellboy was releasing a better version a few months later. After watching the regular version (which the director in the commentary actually said that there's going to be another DVD released), I exchanged the DVD for a sealed one and then went to another Walmart a mile away and got my money back (the customer service didn't mark up my receipt).

I've never had trouble like that. Awhile ago I bought season 1 of He-Wal at my local Wal Mart one of the discs was defective, I guess from what I was told by other online that it wasn't one of the "orko approved" sets. I took it back and got my money back with no trouble at all.
