I have a couple of questions regarding the German DVD's (which if I had money, I wouldn't mind getting to learn German and so that I never have to hear Neil Ross' dweeby wet-behind-the-ears Midwestern voice again).

1. It's my understanding that not all the foreign dubs of Voltron had the same character names. For example, in the Italian dub Allura is known as Aurora, and if I'm reading the Chinese characters in the Cantonese Wikipedia entry for Voltron correctly, Pidge's name would sound something like Xiao Fei (not that I know much Chinese). It's also my understanding that the "th" sound in Keith and "j" sound in Pidge are not in the German language. Therefore, did you have to create new names for the characters?

2. Second, you said that with the exception of Sven, any person that died, good or evil, stayed dead. Good for you. Does this mean that you'll be splicing Go-Lion footage of dead bodies and people getting blown up into the dub?

I can't begin to tell you how much I'd love to see your work! Big Grin

No. All characters have their US-names (so far) and the pronounciation is exactly the same as in the US version. In most of the German dubs (it doesn't matter whether cartoon, live action show or hollywood blockbuster) the names and pronounciations were kept as in the original.
Although we found names for something which haven't been named in the WEP original. For example, the RoBeasts are named like oldschool Godzilla monsters or anything similar (Mechadon, Orochi, Eternius, Cobrahn etc.)

No, the publisher got the same re-mastered video material as the stuff which Anime Works is releasing at the moment. So, no "cut" footage from the original GoLion.
But we don't play down things with the dialogs. For example, when the Avok RoBeast (in episode 17) is shot and goes down (under water), we don't say "Oh, Avok dives. He wants to escape to the open sea!" or something like that. I think it's clear that he is seriously wounded and our dialog brings this up. Wink

That makes us very glad and we hope that - although the price is pretty high - some of you hardcore fans, will buy and enjoy it.

The recordings for volume 2 were finished yesterday.
Right now, I'm working on the scripts for volume 3.

As an extra for volume 2, there will be an audio commentary for episode 17. Funny comments made by René (voice director, voice of Hunk), Daniel (voice of Lance) and me (dialog writer, voice of Sven).

Will the commentary be in English or German?
