I bought this VHS tape from WEP like 10 years ago and I've watched it alot, so much so that I know all the lines, I think the 3 episodes in it are a very good story and I'm trying to remember what the names of the 3 eps are and where it takes place in the series as far as what numbered eps are they, I really don't remember.

Its the story where the Explorer runs across a beautiful planet that is simaler to Earth, even the solar system is excactly the same, Hawkins deploys the Voltron Force to check the planet out and to their shagrin its covered in vegatation and can support life. Then they spook a small Drule expidentionary force that has found the planet first, to make a long story short a couple battles with the Drules ensue until Hazar intervenes and orders commander Valen (sp?) to stop the fighting so he can enter peace negotions with the Alliance on deciding who gets the planet. Hazer and Captain Noran rendevous with Commander Hawkins and Captain Newly at the designated meeting place and start negotiations where things don't go well, when Hazar tries to convince Viceroy Throk to agree to the Alliances conditions on letting the Drules have the planet and also later learning that the planet is inhabited by primitive humans, Throk orders Hazar to take the planet by force but Hazar disobeys orders feeling that no one should have the right to take the planet away from the inhabitants living there. Valen goes over Hazars head and gets permission to attack in which he ultimatly fails thanks to Voltron.

I'm thinking this might be towards the end of the series since Hazar disobeyed orders, so it couldn't be too much longer that he started his rebellion.

41 -- Another Solar System
42 -- Whose World Is It?
43 -- It's Anybody's World

Having watched VV several times in recent years -first with various VHS tapes found on eBay and then finally the Aussie DVDs- it is evident that at least half of the parent series Dairugger XV is composed of multi-episode arcs, with occasional strings of stand-alone episodes to divide them up.

AND YET, here we are on episodes 41-43... and this is probably only the second time in the entire series that the existence of such an arc is acknowledged in VV, with continuity between episodes being preserved. It's also the first time the title card "to be continued..." was ever used on VV, for all the times it *should* have been used prior had the writers actually talked to each other and realized what they were adapting.

Had the "Whose Solar System Is It?" arc been adapted in the same way as previous arcs in the series, you would have had a different name for the planet in each episode, with different circumstances constructed each week to explain what had brought them there. Not to mention minor characters changing their names (and possibly voices) from episode to episode. I kid you not.

A couple episodes later, Voltron actually flies back to the same planet. And the US team of writers didn't even recognize it. (That, or they realized they had written themselves into a corner, since it was now obvious Galaxy Garrison had maintained a presence on the planet despite whatever treaty they had tried to establish with Hazar).

EDIT: there's also something odd about the tape, in that I think it includes material from outside the three episodes in question. For it seems to me that Twyla(sp?) -blue-haired butch Drule chick- appears towards the beginning of the feature. However her Dairugger counterpart is already *dead* by this time, with no recycled footage of her being used anywhere in the three episodes themselves. I would have to watch it again, one of these days when I feel like plugging my VHS back into the entertainment center.

I think their is some footage left out, the first 2 eps of the arc are cut off at the end but if I were to guess, all we're really missing is Jeff or sombody saying "We'll win because we have Votron Defender of the Universe!"

Actually, you got 'teased' by Peter Cullen asking a lot of rhetorical questions regarding what will happen in the next episode. Followed by the title card 'To Be Continued' in that stylish font they can't quite replicate for the current DVDs.

This mini-arc is almost right around the corner from the final stretch of episodes leading into the grand finale. And it's when I think they finally started to do Voltron right. It lasted for about ten episodes.
