I have a few random questions:
1. Did the music use the same theme from the lion series, or was this Voltron given his own theme music? What about the rest of the series' soundtrack? New music, or was it all recycled? 2. Did this series air consecutively with the lion series, or did it air after all 72 episodes of the lion series were completed? 3. Timeline wise, when does this series start and end? Is it after Zarkon and gang are defeated or before? 4. Is Planet Doom and the lion cast ever mentioned, or are they 100% non-existant in this series? Thanks. The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red. |

1. The EXACT same.
2. Right after ep. 52. I remember when I was a kid I was like WTF happened to Voltron, thats not Voltron. lol. Season 2 of Lion Voltron came out that following year. 3. Not sure, I think they overlap somewhere. 4. Yes they ARE mentioned. I can't remember which ep. but Chip gotta a letter from Pidge, I can't remember in detail but Pidge asks him what part of Voltron is he. He goes on to tell Chip that he is the left arm of his Voltron because he is left handed and assumes that Chip is probably the head because he's so smart. Pretty sure thats how it went, I'm going strictly by memory. Yuke,Yuke,Yuusha,Raideen,Raideen! |

Resident Ego-Maniacal Mod![]() |
1. As Raideen said, the music's the same.
2. The series sort of aired consecutively with LV in some areas as some networks alternated between LV and VV episodes during the original run. 3. Not sure. There's been friendly debates in the past regarding the timeline. 4. They are mentioned, as Raideen said. In addition to Chip being mentioned, there's one episode where Hazar mentions Planet Doom. |

It's pretty much left open to interpretation, as there are no cross references to actual events in time between the two series. See the thread "Had Vehicle Voltron been completed..." for my own interpretation of the series timeline. EDIT: You're watching DaiRugger, right? The thread I mentioned will be meaningless to you then without the DaiRugger names for the characters. Here's the short version: Lion Voltron starts first. VV ep 2 takes place before LV ep 20 (Pidge's and Chip's home planet destroyed. There's a throwaway line in the VV ep suggesting this has yet to occur). VV ep 17 takes place before LV ep 40. (capt. Newley's transfer to Galaxy Garrison, where he is briefly seen during the LV episode). LV eps 47-52 all take place during VV ep 22. (Several DaiRugger scenes recycled into these LV episodes feature characters who are never shown together at any other time in VV; one of these characters is about to die/disappear, another one gets demoted and takes an extended leave of absence). |

Not much to add here myself, other than I do remember Some VV being mixed in with the LV broadcasts.
That, and both series not only mentioned the other from time to time, but in LV, there was an instance or two where that clip of Keezor coming into a Drule meeting with a clipboard was recycled into one or two LV eps. I'll try to see if I can remember which eps that occured in. |

Except for Chip and Aki (DXV), names mean nothing to me, as I can't keep track of who anyone in DXV is. I think one character is named Haruka, but I may be wrong. Anyway, is the emperor seen in DXV/VV the emperor of the entire Drule Empire? Meaning that he also has command of Zarkon? The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red. |

I think Newley's name is Asimov in the original version? Not sure. I'm sure you'll figure it out though. Anyway, I doubt WEP knew or cared what the timeline between the two series was. It's not something that affects the series story-wise.

You're correct. The character's full name is Kaga Haruka (Lisa in Voltron).
Yes.
Yup. His full name is Dick Asimov. I've got the Japanese names of the DXV team and some supporting characters if anyone wants me to post them. |

Which character is Asimov? Like I said, I can't keep track of tese characters for crap.

Asimov = Captain Newley from VV
What confused me about him was his role in each show. In that, to me, it seemed like in DXV, Asimov (i.e. Newley) was above Ise (Hawkins) in command on the ship. That's the sense I got from the few sub-titled DXV I've seen, anyway. But in VV, it seems Hawkins outranks Newley so it was harder for me to get used to the 'role reversal' after first being familiar with Voltron, and then watching DXV. But maybe that was just me. |

No no, which guy is Asimov/Newly? Is he one of the captains?

Yeah. He's the light-haired guy who's around Commander Hawkins a lot in the beginning...they appear to run the command ship together. His rank is actually 'Captain' in VV.

Asimov/Newely:

It was before Zarkon was defeated the first time. Michael |

Yeah I think this is the case too (I noticed this today watching VV), because why is Newley sitting down while Hawkins stands all the time. It's apparent that WEP switched their rank, and that Newley is over Hawkins in the original. Hawkins seems from the animation to be the 1st officer but that is not reflected in the dialogue. |
