From days of long ago...when I first watched VEHICLE FORCE VOLTRON, I vaguely remember one episode of the series that was dedicated to the history of the development of the Vehicle Voltron robot. Apparently, before Vehicle Voltron was completed (ostensibly using data that the Lion Force team sent back from Arus), the Galaxy Alliance had been experimenting with other giant Robeast-fighting robots, but none of them were successful. Does anybody else remember the episode in question and know its title?

That was episode 21 - "Meanwhile, Back at Galaxy Garrison."

In that episode:

- it is mentioned that the creator of Vehicle Voltron (using information from Lion Voltron) died and took his secrets with him.
- The Garrison (although missing the information) continue to make other versions of Voltron, but continually fail.
- Mongo is noted as a potential ally in the quest for peace with the Drules.

>> the issue regarding the missing information about the creation of Vehicle Voltron may have been a potential marker into the Albegas Voltron series. Maybe the secrets were eventually re-discovered.
>> also it is not mentioned how the creator of VV died.

I haven't seen the episode in a while, but I'm sure the Alliance's attempts to create another Voltron were AFTER Vehicle Voltron's creation, not before.

This is why the Alliance were unable to successfully create another Voltron. Loran's (creator of VV) passing and his taking his secrets with him to the grave meant that the Alliance no longer had the vital data and information that was required to successfully create another Voltron.

I haven't seen VV at all so I'm not sure how much I can contribute to this thread, but this discussion makes me wonder:

If the creator of Vv died and took all his research, would GG be able to take the data from both LV and VV and create alternate Voltrons?

Or is there some secret ingredient that no one seems to know about...like Col. Sanderz' secret 11 herbs and spices.

Depends if the data is decipherable. There may be elements to both Voltrons that GG techs might not be able to understand.

Was Dr. Loran an Earthman? Or was he from Arus or some other planet?

His origins were never established. All that was mentioned of him was that he was VV's creator and that he took his Voltron secrets with him to the grave.

It is generally assumed that Dr. Loran (sometimes heard as Dr. Loring - you be the judge) was human. But yes, his origin was never esablished.

Had Vehicle Voltron been somewhat more successful than it eventually was, and more original episodes been produced (à la LV), they might've delved more deeply into this area...would've been interesting to find out about Dr. Loran's involvement in the whole affair.

If there is any chance of VV coming back, I think this would be a key topic for the plot to focus on.

ViceroyThrok, does this episode show how they were testing a rather dull looking robot and it get's destroyed easily by some tanks or something?

I remember they "high councelor" looking guy saying "I wish I could say that's another Voltron, but I can't" or something like that?

Yes, I also remember thinking how much that "dull looking robot" looked a lot like the Decepticon "Shockwave."

The "high councelor" you are referring to may be Space Marshall Graham... I could be wrong. SGB?

I haven't seen the episode in a while so I don't recall any such lines.
