No, I didn't take it that way. My post came out a little off-balance; it started as one thought and then I mixed in another.

To try again: We all like Admin, but once things get further along, the info he provides might get tame as the filter of officiality gets tighter. At that point, rumors, unverified sources, etc will be much more welcome.

But we're a long way from that yet.

Just for your information and it wasn't that old and was mentioned on the Voltron website. It may not be much information now but it was mentioned in JUNE of 2010. It is the most recent information that I have and unlike Admin I dont have direct access to the sources as they send out information. I scour the internet along with VOLTRON.com with the hope that I find new information.
Lets face it. We all hope to find out what is going on with the project and we all have limitations as what we can find.
All I ask is when information comes out and it is more recent than JUNE of 2010 is that it should be spelled out.

This is only 2 of those articles and I have to keep thinking in those terms until I find out differently. Admin has kept us apprised of new bits of information by e-mail and has done a good job. I still have some of those e-mails even now.
Also I do not say anything negative about how you find out these things because we are all limited by what we know. All we have to do is hope that the information will come out in time.

Just saw the apparently leaked concept art of the new Voltron movie...

I don't know how I feel about them, they are definitely heavily influenced by Bayformers..I don't hate it but it definitely looks copied from Bay's Transformers film. What angers me the most is present day Earth as the setting.

And why does Voltron's look have to be so... busy?

You'd think they'd want the bots to look like more than a Transformers also-ran, to have a look that would be more distinct and original to distinguish from Bay's TFs.

Very interesting! First things first it's awesome to at least see some positive movement on the movie front! Screenwriters and concept art are a definite improvement over the status quo.

Not surprised by the bayification of the lions but i do think they could be left more like the originals since they were vehicles not techno-organics like the Transformers. (Acknowledge parts of canon may disagree with that)

The USA thing i could be ok with if right but i can see how people could view it as selling out/ simplifying/ cheating / etc. I would like to think that a story based on Arus could work but i acknowledge that doing the show earth based is probably the best approach for a summer blockbuster and ya know there are ways of keeping connections to Arus. Just to early to tell how it is going to work out. If the animated series is on Arus though then i would expect the LAM to be similar.

For what we see though i think we have some serious potential. Not a big fan of the left and right arms being reversed or the green lions front paws being so active but it is concept art.

Can't wait to see what comes out next and what Admin says about.this!

I thought they scrapped setting the movie on earth as a lot of us put up a no when the supposed Mark's script was about... Its either that or Arus has a statue of liberty too. LOL! I don't know I think it would make it more I suppose you could say "real" if the movie was based on Arus and not New York... again! I am beginning to think that script writers of blockbuster and or action flicks don't like New York as its always being demolished in films.. LOL!

But yes I would wait for Admin/s (unsure how many are there)to say something when he/she can then it will be at least semi official.

You know its probably just first draft that was scrapped and instead of shredded pocketed. I seriously don't think they would let the official stuff leak like that. So I wouldn't panic about it just yet.

Ugly designs, if those are official concept arts. Someone needs to point out that "Bayformers" are not the only way of depicting robots in live-action. That picture of Voltron only looks like him in the vaguest of ways.

Speaking of Bayformers, anyone else thinks that Robeast looks a little like Megatron? Well, I just hope they're not going to go in this direction.

F*cking ugly designs. Awful, just awful. Too much Bayformers-like. I don't want Voltron looking like that.


EDIT: Just realised that in the shot of Voltron the Lions are on the wrong sides. Either the image has been vertically flipped or the artist goofed.

Given a choice between this and the 'scrapheap Voltron' concept, I go with this.

And if it's between this and the look of the original 1981 mecha designs, I still go with this (sorry!).

On the other hand, I would prefer something like the 'organic-bot' fan art designs that were linked to from this forum a while back.

I think people might be missing the point that at least this is a nice sign that some progress is being made. We have been waiting for a long time for any sign that things are actually happening and we finally have something, ya know?

Not saying people shouldn't critique... just maybe look at a bigger picture?

I think it's perfectly reasonable that we be critical of a design that looks too derivative of another recent franchise.
