Are they doing a second Underdog movie for 2010?

I don't think it matters what year Voltron comes out, it's always going to have stiff competition...unless it comes out during the months in which most of the comedy and chick flicks come out...but that won't happen.

It'll get released during the big summer months when it'll be going against the BIG summer movies.

I'll be a challenge, and that's why the current script we've seen I personlly don't think was up to the challenge.

*begins work on a Thundar the Barbarian script*

Didja ever say the sequence along with Keith and sound stupid when he said "Torso" instead of "Body"?

Did we honestly expect anything less from any year's worth of movies? Any more, they're not willing to take many risks, and go with the flow of what the rest of Hollywood is doing, or with established franchises. Very rarely does anyone step out of that frame and set a new trend. You can't blame them much, either. We're not the ones risking hundreds of millions of dollars on films.

Voltron is a little of both 'doing what everyone else is doing' and relying on an established franchise. I'd like for them to take the same approach to this source material that they would bring to it if it were a series of novels or a venerable classic.

But...it IS 'just a cartoon from the 80s'...*sigh*

I'm gonna go work on a script now. Seems I've been given more time...=P

It may just be a cartoon from the 80's, but it has so much potential to be more. Way more.

Let's go Voltron Force!

^ I'm sorry, but with competition like that... The Voltron movie has absolutely no chance, especially with Robotech coming out that same year.

I'm proud to be a Dorkian,
Cause at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget, all the cartoons,
That got me through puberty.

And I'll proudly speak up,
on the 'net, and defend them still today,
Cause there ain't no doubt, I love my 'toons
God Bless the Nineteen Eighties!

I highly doubt it. I think if anything 20th Century said there needed to be changes before we throw money into the project. Marks probably got angry that his "project" was ruined so he left.

We have to remember that Marks is fairly young (early 20's) and is essentially a newbie when it comes to movies being made based on his scripts. I feel the scenario that his script was ripped apart by Hollywood execs (budget and planning) and that he got mad is a likely situation.

I thought it was a bit ambitious to give this guy He-Man, Voltron and Street Fighter when he hadn't proved himself yet.

That is what Hollywood execs do - rip apart scripts.

It's not the ripping apart that's bad. After all, they need to make sure this movie can be made under budget. But if Marks isn't strong enough to take it then he shouldn't be in the business. No script survives the first draft.

Well, taking criticism is something that is learned through being criticized! heheh Heaven knows I've been criticized the crap out of! I don't let it bother me. Rather, I see it as an opportunity to improve.

If you want to make it in this world, Hollywood or no, you need to know how to take criticism.

So, in my Thundar script, should the "Runaway planet that hurtled between the Earth and the moon" still happen in 1994? could be an "atlernate universe!" *heads to youtube to look for Thundar*

Well, yeah! I mean, I remember when that happened. My horse came through it okay, but Ookla was never the same. =P

Ho-leee crap...Thundarr's "Fabulous Sun sword" looks exactly like Lotor's sword! well, Lotor's is blue, but the hilt is the same shape, the "blade" is all wavy, man, GoLion ripped off Thundarr! (of course they BOTH ripped off Lucas)
Wow, I was just joking about Thundarr before but I actually DID go to youtube, this show was AWESOME!
