Thanks for the link Radicsl.
KBL--That was an excellent, very academic review of that mess of an article. It helped put some things into perspective for me. If it truly is the shooting script for Voltron I am concerned. However, I'm hopeful that directors, actors etc can help mould it, perhaps, into something less cliche. Granted, as you said, the cliche factor may more be due to the reviewers inability to get past bad movie references. I am still worried, though, that there is too much similarlity to Stargate, Stargate: SG-1; Atlantis. The conneciton to ancient mythology is fine, but when they start bringing in frozen human aliens and evil races that steal tech like the Goa'uld I think they could be shooting themselves in the foot. Voltron is so unique and engaging on its own that it does not need a massive over haul. I can understand omissions and changes, but if there is no Lotor, and we get Monster Garage (As KBL aptly noted) lions/military vehicles I think fans and new audiences alike will not be getting the experience they could have from such a promising project. I will remain cautiously optimistic--it may surprise us. I've been hopeful for a film for years, so I won't discount it yet. Thanks again, IG |

I'll second IG, thanks for putting things into perspective. At first I was just so upset with the changes that I couldn't get excited about it.
The whole plot line with the keys and the connection to Arus may be enough to save the film. The whole plot line really intrigues me. The main things that need to be fixed are with the characters(mainly Keith) and this could turn out to be good after all. I'm a die hard fan through and though and I'm sure I'll see this movie regardless. I almost like the low expectations and then to be wowed at the theatre. Having high expectations and being disapointed is more common. Maybe this whole situation will turn out for the best. |

The Board Princess bids you welcome to the forum Kingdom, IG! Please see KBL, my most trusted Black Lion Knight, for your room assignment and walk-through of his review of the script.
My hope is in the director of the movie, who will make it all work out in the end. ~AlluraP ~The Official Board Princess~ "Princess, you ride with me." --Keith, Voltron Force 2011 LONG LIVE KEITH AND ALLURA! http://alluraandkeith.homestead.com/ |

Red Lion, I figured out why you couldn't find the website and fixe the issue. It turn out, when I was making the link off the main page, I forgot to put in the second set of quotation marks in the link's HTML coding.

Thanks for the welcome!
I was a member at the old forums and just now got over here. It's good to be back amongst fans. Even if the circumstances surrounding the film are not ideal lol. IG |

Back already, I'm not sure if this review from CHUD.com has been linked here or not, but it is certainly worth noting:
http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=11592 This review claims the scirpt we have all been acquainted with is from 5/23/07. It offers a few more insights than the latinoreview one, but it does not offer its source for the script either. In som ways, even though this review is better written than the latino review, and offers more examples and details (especially concenring Pidge), I think I like the tone of the author even less! He slams the Voltron fandom and I have no idea why. He has a a chip on his shoulder and an obvious need for artistic validation--or something. In any case, he does say that Marks' action sequences are "cleanly" written. Maybe we can at least get a decent action scene out of it! I fear that might be part of the reaosn why he was hired. Forget everything except the action. There is certainly more to Voltron than that and I htink the CHUD reviewer fails to see that. Time to make some pizza dough, later all, IG |

Did I read that right?
Did he say that Coran is Allura's father?! Okay, break out your torches, everyone. If you don't have a pitchfork, one will be provided for you. |

This review is incredibly harsh on the popularity of the original Voltron, Transformers, GI Joe toons and their fans. He definitely has no business writing this review because he seems set on hating it no matter what.
Now, if the script points are accurate, then I am even more disappointed by this script. It really is just throwing the Voltron name on it. And if Marks can't handle the criticism, he needs to get a new profession. |

Mr. Chud was pretty harsh with us -- but his review did make me laugh.
"If this is what's cool now, I think I'm done. I no longer have any connection to this world. I'm gonna go home and kill myself." |

So in general, the guy says the movie will fail.
The unconfirmed cast doesn't sound all that good either. Who the f**k is Agnes Varda? (potential director) I looked up IMDB to find out and: http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Agnes+Varda This looks bleak folks. Someone needs to apply the brakes before it's too late. |

the biggest problem I have with the current script is the characterization of the Voltron force. The post-apocalyptic Earth is not a problem, as Golion featured a post-apocalyptic Earth. (In fact, something significant happens to Earth in Episode 20). Michael |

Its not voltron if the script from Justin Mark is the offical movie script for the making of the Lion Voltron. Its taken all the beauty out of the story. I love the way the comic book started. I don't mind a little deviation from the origin but his version is not Voltron. Its really a sad day for True fans.
The remaking of Voltron should be true to character and form not someone's dream fantasy and calling it Voltron just make people draw an interest to it. Transformers was nicely done (the movie). It stayed for the most part true to the identification of the story line and i am not a fan of the cartoon (my brothers were) but love the concept, the mystique, and the story idea just couldn't get into as a fan of it (too mechanical or something for me as a kid of the 80's) The idea of good verse evil and the ability to go through different levels drew me to voltron instantly.. Been a fan and will be a fan forever! I wish they would have considered the true fans out there that write stories everyday on fanfiction.net and other websites even some of their deviations are better than the script. (if that is version they are basing the movie off of) I pray its a sad day if it is so. MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL FOR KEEPING A Wonderful Story alive! feli3 |
