Yeah, I'm back.

Okay, so I was thinking . . . the reason why WEP isn't releasing the rest of the episodes is all about cost, right? There's not enough demand = no supply. It's just not worth it for you guys to make the DVDs (well, I totally disagree with this, but . . .) if not enough people will buy it, right?

So here's my suggestion. How about releasing JUST the English audio (well, I'd buy video too but that's more work for you guys) for the episodes NOT available on the U.S. DVD via iTunes or something similar? I will BUY the German versions of the DVDs (yes, my DVD player can play that region) . . . I can, like, cut out the UPC codes and mail them to you or something so you can verify this, then happily mute them, plug in my iPod and watch the episodes. What do you think?

Really, the only reason I didn't buy the German versions to begin with is 1)I don't know German and most importantly 2)I want to watch the English version! T___T It was my favorite show as a kid and it's still my favorite show and a lot of it has to do with the cast and writing and I just don't think I'd be able to enjoy it as much in German.

I know there are other people that feel the same way and really want to be able to see it again. I don't know how cost-efficient releasing the audio is for you guys, but I doubt you'll be losing money on it, and for the hard-core fans, I think this sort of stop-gap measure is better than nothing? (C'mon, I'm TOTALLY willing to by the German release - which is, by all accounts, nice and high quality - just so I can watch it in English.)

It's been almost eighteen years since I've seen SRatSS on TV and my tapes are wearing out. T__T The new collection is nice (and sitting on my shelf at home next to my UK SRatSS DVDs) but I really want to be able to watch the whole thing. Please guys, is there anyway to make it happen?

I know this is sort of far-fetched, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

I'm a "Saber" fan myself.
"Saber" eps on iTunes might be a good idea. I could, of course, "blow up" the picture on my trusty ol' Mac.
But I think I'd rather watch them on a good CRT (glass tube) TV or a good LCD or plasma flat panel TV.
I do sometimes wish that Anime House (the German label that handles the "Saber" DVDs in Germany) would someday come out with an English/Deutsch language form of the DVDs. But I seriously don't see that happening.
Who knows -- perhaps "Saber" might yet be able to see the light of day (English) DVD-wise....it took 10 years to finally get "Voltron" onto DVD.
We'll see...

I'm just worried because WEP mentioned earlier that their rights for the series were running out soon (and would probably revert to Studio Pierrot). I have no idea of how soon is "soon," but after that there can't be any more releases of SRatSS, right?

It would have been wonderful if Anime House could have included the English track on their DVDs from the beginning . . . I would have happily bought the DVDs then.

The difference between Saber Rider and Voltron is that a lot more people remember Voltron from their youth. Strong nostalgia = better sales. Also, Voltron's been rerun quite a few times on television since its initial airing and as far as I know Saber Rider never had been (in the USA).

While they're both sort of "cult classics," Saber Rider fits more squarely in the "cult" area, I guess. Not to mention I think SRatSS was MUCH more popular in Europe than it was in the U.S.. I mean, obviously it was popular in Germany, but it was also popular in Russia!

An iTunes release would be amazing considering the lack of physical materials that would need to be produced. Saber Rider is something I grew up with.. as well as Voltron. I used to have all the episodes on VHS recorded strait off of WSBK TV 38 outta Boston.. something that we got in Central NY. My mother, alas recorded soaps over them.. =/

I remember getting a press kit a bit back from WEP for Saber Rider and it mentioned the awards the series one from MTV in the early 80's.

With those kind of awards to the property, its hard to imagine that they would allow their rights to go without.. a 'BANG' so to speak.

Wow, Zorina - I remember your website and fanfics from back in the day! I probably e-mailed you once or twice too.

It'd be really great if more of the SRatSS fans could post here and show their support for the show.
