I recently purchase a voltron i think. Im not sure what kind i have and would be interested if any one could help me find out. All five lion are in good condition and i dont think that the weapon i received with is the one it actually came with. Most of the stickers on each are in japanese . There is a code that says gb 36

Well, the sword is legit, but the sticker on the spinning star weapon is making me think that it's a Taiwan version. Without other closer inspection, it's only guessing.

 The copyright seems to be legit as well and match the Matchbox version. The lions from the look of the sticker match the Matchbox as well.The spinning blade, that doesn't look like the Matchbox version. The Matchbox blade is all blue. I have found out that the voltron or should i say Golion figure I have . Comes from the orignal japanese series.
Hyaku Ju Oh Goraion (Hundred Beast King GoLion) is an animated series that aired in Japan in 1981. It ran for only one season and comprised of 52 episodes. The series, which was not popular in Japan, was later dubbed into the successful Voltron -- Defender Of The Universe Lion Force series. So i am sure i have a 1981 JAPAN POPY GB-36 DX GOLION / GODAIKIN TAKATOKU. thank you for your help |

Ines; We all know that Go-Lion was the original of Voltron. We're not noobs to this.
As for your stickers...don't be 100% sure of it. Stickers can be re-done and bootleggers are the ones that do it to be able to sell the item at a higher price. Hopefully you did score a actual vintage Go-Lion, but you got the spinning lazer blade from a Taiwan knock off for certain...which is why I'm thinking sticker reproduction because of the spinning lazer blade. |
