VV voltron? Is that the Vehicle set your speakinfg of?
If so, the vehicle sets have markings behind them. Not stickers. And so far, i'm pretty sure those were made only in Japan. I own 2 complete sets, both with different markings, one in Japanese letters/chinese characters, and another in english, yet they all say they're made in Japan. No Taiwan here as far as Im concern. And nothing about GB-36. The code GB-36 is only found in the japan made Lion Voltron sets. |

It was the vehicle voltron set that i was speaking of. Didn't know if vehicle voltron sets were produced in japan only or if their was a set produced in Taiwan. Thanks for the help Japanbot.

Slightly off-topic..
How many other versions of the deluxe set exist like the original Popy? Were any recent versions of the set like the Trendmasters and Lionbot version of Golion released? I'd really like an affordable shot at a new Deluxe with accessories (Sea Team antennae, etc) like the Popy version. |

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending how you see it) Trendmasters never made a reissue set of Vehicle Force Voltron.
The one ones you will find, are the ones on ebay. The Matchbox release of both deluxe and miniature. Plus on some occasions, a small variety of bootlegs which are easy to spot. |

Man I remember having a VV. My bro and I got it for xmas one year. At the time I thought it was lame and always told my bro that VV would get kicked by lion force Voltron lol. The more I see them pop up on ebay tho the more tempted I get to bid on one. I still think VV gets kicked by LV tho

Oh no doubt man. The toy set itself is actually pretty lame in terms of materials used. 100% plastic, excluding the screws. And because of that, it is extremely rare to find a complete set out of box that isn't tipping over or so loose that when you pick it up, limbs start falling off.
Ove a period of usage, the parts that are supposed to snug fit, become very loose. The lion set seems to always hold up well and if there are some looseness, most issues are easily fixed by simply tightening the screws. The vehicle Voltron would require special attention. It looks cool when fully formed and taller than Lion Voltron, but the lion set is definitely more fun to play with. |

I hear ya! The other major downer is that there's no leg movement in bot mode. Regardless, I'm sure I'll pick one up though. I always liked Vehicle Voltron and miss the toy. I mostly like them in parts and as the 3 fighter units. I hope I can find a clean set without too many issues. |

Yea it is, vv is kinda clumsy if I had to describe it, he's almost too big. I remember always losing one vehicle or another, so there was always a part of him missing. One day there would be a hand missing, the next day we'd find the hand and the head would be missing lol it was hard for two lil monkeys like my bro and I to keep track of 15 little vehicles. Have sword, will travel! |
I've always found VV to be tight...maybe too tight! The yellow locking mechanisms keep the parts from falling off but when it comes time to take it apart, I'm always afraid of breaking something since it's plastic. If anything falls off, it's the hands and two feet. Those feet tabs are slide on and slide off. The hands seem to shoot out when shaken.

Since I'm used to the VV design, I don't have a preference which one is better. I guess, I like them both. |

Yeah I'd say the weakest links are Ginger's plane attachment on the chest and knee connections between the lower legs(Zandee and Shannon) and the small thigh submarine ships that attach to the waist(Cliff). **Note: these connections are pretty sturdy when they combine into their own land, sea, air team fighters. Its just with supporting all of the upper weight as Voltron where, they come appart easier.
Man I can't wait to buy this set again. |

Ugh, I never cared for this set. I had it and it seemed to never stay together. It felt like a clumsy plastic brick that had arms that tilted inward. If they were to really take advantage of the VV DVD set releases, Toynami would bring out a new metal and plastic better ergonomically scaled set (with sword included this time!)like the lion set.
