so I just decided to pick up a diecast voltron model but I have no clue which one to get. I had the 81 Bandai release the arms and legs that were attached I think. Now that I'm older I'de like to replace it but I have now clue which one to choose. Is there a definative model. Saw a plastic one on ebay that had arm where the lions head shot that was kinda cool. I think that in metal would be hot. But again i have no clue even what all the choices are so idealy I'de like so basic imput with maybe a picture in the reply and once i get a few good choice i'de like to turn this into a poll. Thanks for your help guys! ~new guy grant

The definitive Voltron toy is probably the 12" Matchbox.

The Masterpiece is nice to display but not durable enough to play with. The heads don't shoot, either.

edit: Oh, but if you do ever buy the Masterpiece, get it cheaper than that one. Smiler I got mine for about $100.

yes and yes. Heheh, theres plenty of pics online you can google out just by typing Matchbox Voltron. And variations? PLENTY.
Even within the same model brand, theres one with lead in the paint which was recalled, though you will find plenty on ebay, and there were the Japan made sets as well as the Taiwan sets and they all had variant chrome stickers on their belly which would read either "golion" "Golion D" "Golion B" and even "Golion C" (these were the ones built in Taiwan but still dristributed by Matchbox) and the others were "GB-36 Made in Japan". Each grade featured either more or less features than the other, whether it be stickers, or head sizes (like the ones for the arms for instance).

yes yes and finally yes. but this is the forum dedicated to these figures. you guys are the keepers of the keys. I searched matchbox line already online and got vague answers very similar to yours. also realizede that while i might think im looking at a complete gb-36 it may infact have a made in taiwan red lion so rather than use questionable data i figured ide post this question lookin for the best possible replies. Not to sure if you noticed but i posted a picture of the figure i was looking at. i dont know but it seems it might be useful to have a post that shows the different newances of these sets. so people can be armed with the best data before they pay too much for the wrong thing.
why do i care?.?. well i'm one of those guys who is going to spend toooo much for the right figure in the best condition. It's not my fault i just want it fast and dont really plan to shop tooo much. But it would be nice to know what im looking at and have some knowledge of the product. so yeah trying to build a thread here that really details the differences in these things....
