Well, these are only 7 out of 10 sets I own. I still need to get in my closet and pull out the Trendmaster metal lions set and the Japanese Golion set. Also Im currently cleaning my black and green lions, hence why you see stray cats in the pics.
Of all pictured here, theres one Lionbot bootleg hiding behind the others. I will be stripping the paint off of it and repainting it to match the originals. The paint job on Lionbots are really sloppy. But for the most part, theyre great toys and I absolutely love them. I intend on building my army of Voltron over the next year or so. Why? No idea. I just love them that much. Beautiful colors, quality and memories. Enjoy the pics my friends.
PS. GodaikinMajesty, I will post specific pics that will compare the bootleg to the Japan and Taiwan version of Voltron. Surprisingly enough, Matchbox issued 3 different Voltrons to my knowledge. The first being from Japan, the black lion has zinc chromium colored eyes, and there was a taiwan version with the sticker that reads Golion D, and yet another version that says Golion "B". The Golion B being more unique looking but visibly not as clean as the Japanese. These mustve been the last sets issued from Matchbox. Im not sure yet.

That's great -n- all, but I was more curious about the different boxes. BTW, did you see on ebay?? They just had an auction for the one I would love to own. (but it's way too expensive).
Welp, to answer your questions here, Yes. That would be a beautiful "original" set from Japan. And yes I do have that set, but believe me, not half as in nice condition as that. One of my plans is to strip and rechrome the parts that are sorely damaged. I'll never sell it.
I apparently also dont have the box carton either. Just the styro with a piece of carton taped over the set. That one i had since i was a kid. :]

Ok, I'm gonna guess that the front line are the Japan made ones, the left one of the middle line is the Lionbot bootleg and the right one of the middle line is the one made in Taiwan. Am I right?
Spot on Zero Angst. Great eye for distinguishing the differences !
And omg, I just pulled out the blue lion (the one pictured on the front row middle assembled voltron) and it says "Golion Y&K Toei Made in Taiwan". Theres no "D" afterwards. <_< so many variations...insanity. lol

Japanbot, I just showed the pictures of your collection to my husband. Hubby can't complain now about the few hundred dollars I have spent on ebay trying to rebuild my collection.
Good thing I've convinced him to consider carrying anime for our store so I can get it a little cheaper.
Out of curiosity, why do you have so many of the lion Voltron?
To be quite honest, I cannot bring myself to own the original after Toynami's Voltron. The lions just look like body parts with legs whereas Toynami's version actually look like lions.
Now I would love to get my hands on a VV/Dairugger.
The only reason MGS4 would appear on the X-Box 360 is if Kojima wanted to paint the sky red.
