Since no one has really browsed the other thread, I'll create a new one:

New question on Albegas: Okay, finding a Japanese version to get a sword for it is next to impossible, but I was wondering how close it would be to basically steal the sword off a Power Ranger Mega Zord for the Voltron II?

Reason I ask is for when I am displaying them at the fair, Voltron I has a sword (thanks to a knock off) Voltron II currently does not. Voltron III (Matchbox, Panosh, and Toynami) have swords. I'd like to get a sword for Voltron II as well, and looking at an auction for a Voltron, the seller threw in a Mega Zord in the auction as well as the Panosh Place version. The Zord comes with it's sword, and it kinda reminded me of Albegas' sword. I know it's not exact, but from a fans perspective...how close would it it be...or is it just a really bad idea. lol

If really bad idea, does anyone have a suggestion of another robot toy out there that has a similar sword?

Personally, when stacked together, the Albegas sword looks bad. Look at these pics. Separately, they look good but together, the swords look like a mess!

I've been using the small Albegas' sword for the Matchbox Voltron II. After a while, I used the Superhuman Samurai Cybersquad (aka Gridman) sword (the one without the axe) because it fit in Albegas' hand. The Megazord sword might be too big but it looks a LOT better than the actual Albegas sword.

Can you give length of the total 3 swords put together? That way when I'm bidding on a Megazord I can ask the seller to measure the sword for me as well. Smiler

Also, in the shot with Albegas with it's full sword...can you turn it around so I can see how you've got the other arms placed? In the angle you've placed it, I can't see how you did it, but it looks better than how I did it. lol Thanks Mark!

The problem with Voltron II is that Matchbox glued the hands in place. It's a bitch to get the hands to come apart but you could risk breaking the robot's wrists. They're supposed to come off when you put the robots together so you can hide the other arms. The red robot's arms bend down and the blue robot's arms bend up. It looks bad from behind but that's the way it's supposed to be.

Those pics aren't mines because my Voltron II is packed away in the backyard shed. You can see more of Albegas and the Bandai model kit that was released years ago at- http://yousukeimit.kt.fc2.com/albegas.html

Remember that Ebay auction with that small Albegas figure a month or two back? I guess Josh was the winner! Here's his review in www.collectiondx.com -

I've seen the resin model still for sale on eBay. Thought about buying it myself, and using metalic paints to paint it up so it looks better than the one shown in the first link. Looks like they used flat paints.

The pic of Albegas with Abega...looks like it's more poseable in that one than the one in my closet. lol

I've got measurements from a seller with a Megazord with sword. It's 8.5 inches. Think that's too big by chance?

The regular Albegas sword is roughly 8 to 8 1/2 inches when put together. I think the Megazord sword might fit well since the real sword is almost as tall as the Albegas figure! The Megazord's sword does look a little like an oversized Gamma (Red Robot) Sword.

The resin model doesn't move and is recasted by several Chinese recasters. It may pop up once in a while at a store around the Chinatowns in the larger cities. The pics on the last post is the Bandai injection mold styrene model kit that's from the "Super Robots" line. Unfortunately, it's hard to find because it wasn't re-issued like the other robots in the series (like 1/500 scale Golion and DXV, the 1/300 scale DXV, and several other Anime Robots like Mazinger Z and God Marz).

The Albegas next to Abega is the 6" ST figure. It doesn't transform like the regular DX (deluxe) figure but it's mostly an action figure. The chests pop off and are interchangeable as are the legs and the head can be changed by moving the wheel inside of it. I have one in poor condition and missing parts (one hand, two legs and the sword). However, the 4" Albegas figure has the same arms so that figure's sword fits well with the 6" ST figure.
