Prince Lotor in another life

Why Prince Lotor, of course!!
My avatar is a dead giveaway! Smiler
I've always been struck with his charming yet diabolical nature.
He's got the cool long white hair, the eyes, and I'd say he's the best dressed (the helmet is waaaay cool!)
As KBL put it, if you're going to take over the galaxy, do it with style! Lotor is best dressed for the job. His wickedness is every match for his father's (Zarkon) tyranny, even if his obsession with Allura has caused him to bungle many times. Lotor is psychologically complex in that regard, and I think that is my main reason why I have always been enamored by him.

One other reason tohighly favor Lotor besides his great looks is that he was an effective leader. His leadership skills have had a great impact on me, because I get respect & results from them.

King Zarkon. He had style. Actually, the whole Doom triumvirate of him, Lotor and Haggar were what made Voltron what it was. That and the entire Doom culture were very interesting to me. I can remember taping eps as a kid and pausing Doom scenes so I could study the look and dress and apparent ethnic types of Doom citizens. I never bought the whole "robot soldier" thing and realized even as a kid that those characters were not intended to be robots.

I also had a soft spot for the blue cat. It hurt my heart to see his death on the Golion site!

YAY! Another Z fan! The Doom trio definitely generated some great banter and were a big part of Voltron, I agree.

Heh, I do that now; I even attempted a cladogram once. The "robot soldier" thing was lame.

Yurak He was a better henchmen then Lotor or Cossack. Cossack was weak and afraid. Lotor spent way too much time chasing Princess Allura.

I like Yurak too. He seems to have a sophistication and authority about him that is missing in Lotor and sometimes even in Zarkon. I think he should also be commended for offering himself up to be a roebeast.
Although, Lotor is my favorite character, you have to admitt that Yurak's uniform is much more regal than that mini skirt Lotor wears.

Yurak would've made a more appropriate Prince of Doom than Lotor, even though I liked Lotor, because of his loyalty to serving Zarkon, plus he bears more in physical appearance to Zarkon than Lotor making him look more like a son of Zarkon's.

There were times when I wished Lotor succeeded. I think the Final Victory episode is where I would've liked to see him win.

The mice don't make it up to the top of castle in time to save Voltron. Lotor has already melted down half of Voltron, then who knows what else happened after that.

You know, I had the thought that there were some small similarities in appearance there too. A fan who used to post here ages ago had an interesting theory that Yurak, Cossack, and Mogor were all Zarkon's illegitimate sons (hence why they weren't princes) to explain their positions of prestige. I'll be curious when we finally get a dubbed version of Golion to hear if they anything was said about Zadak being related to Zarkon or not. Even if he wasn't a son, he could have been a nephew, cousin, or other relation to the royal family.

Anytime the mice save the day it makes me want to groan. I understand that in an 80s cartoon, in canon, the bad guys are going to lose, but damn, let them have some dignity! Razzer

For the Doomies, Lotor, hands down. As a kid when I first saw it I was usually rooting for him (even though I of course love the Force, too!), and even at times hoped that he would succeed in his Allura-centered plots.

I also like Merla... it must be the pink hair. I suppose I just have a thing for awesome chicks with odd-colored hair.

I haven't seen enough VV to really judge the Drules, but hopefully that will be remedied soon.

Newbie, hoorah! Will put signature when I have time to make something witty and/or pretty.

Damn, I would've luved to have seen Lotor have Allura. To be honest, I luved Princess Allura, because of her compassion, bravery, & kind-heartedness. It admires me that she did something unexpected as a Princess by flying blue lion.

However there were also times when she was rather annoying. That was mainly when she would cry & whine everytime Lotor was around. I can think of many ways she could've dealt with Lotor than just being a wuss about it. That was pretty high-maintenance.

Lotor's also at fault, cuz the things he would say & do just turned her against him even more. Also there were times when he would act full of himself, but I guess why shouldn't he?

I noticed sometime in Season 2, Lotor realized his faults when it came to Allura. This happened when Merla came in the pic. Boy, she sure set him straight too. In the first few episodes Merla was in, poor Lotor looked like he was about to cry.

Due to the fact, Merla knows how to be her own woman & handle herself in relationships, I admire & have more respect for her.

Yurak's loyalty was unwavering, even when it was in his best interests to leave. He is probably the only Doomite on the show without an ulterior motive. However, Yurak's methods were "tried and true": he had less variation and wasn't fond of magic at all; Lotor and Hagar, for all their faults, were erratic in how they attacked Arus and the VF (today: mutate a bulldozer to attack a sports stadium, tomorrow: mutant frogs and flowers corrupt the ecosystem, casual Friday: jellyfish robeast hidden in an asteroid) so, episodic formula of the climax and denouement aside, you really didn't know exactly what they were gonna pull out of their butts next Smiler Anybody capable of building a jellyfish robot is somebody to be outright feared in their capacity to do just about any insane friggin thing.

Yurak would have been a real nasty contender had he existed in VV; racist VV Drules twisted !

I agree with the fact Yurak was more loyal to Doom & effective at fighting Voltron than Lotor. He at least defeated Voltron on a couple occasion rather it be causing Sven to get injured & making Voltron break into 5 pieces before.
