I read where someone mentioned that Rap must be a Doomite thing, so I thought I'd begin this conversation.

Does anybody think Rap music would be popular among Doomites?

I think it would depend on who was listening to it. Zarkon & Haggar would definitely not be the type to listen to it to a point where they'd probably want to strip them from the market.

Lotor on the other hand would very much enjoy it, cuz of the lifestyle that the lyrics go on about. He would relate to it well & it's a wonder if he'll begin to find new terms for his harem girls. (LOL)

I could see some Doomites bumpin rap. Hmmm, why am I picturing Zarkon listening to Jay-Z?

Oh and Lotor's harem girls......well of course dancing to T-Pain's "Can I Buy You A Drank"

I see them listening to stuff like old Emperor, Dimmu Borgir and Satyricon. Look at their imagry!

No, they don't strike me as the type to listen to "hip hop".

Of course I could be bias because I utterly DESPISE hip hop.

Oh well, to each his own and all that good stuff.

I've always imagined them into Black Metal to some extent, though any loud music must be torture on big/elfin ears. Easy listening for them would probably be stuff like SOAD (which I like) since they tend to do some interesting things with their songs.

And I have to agree. Doomites into hip-hop? Um... no. I mean... can anyone else here see, say, Yurak being into Grandmaster Flash, or DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince, or the Fugees or Kanye West?? I'm sure that someone could try to make an argument that they'd be into 2 Live Crew or maybe some of the crappiest, most uninspired, easily-forgotten-because-their-cd's-were-barely-
even-good-for-being-beer-coasters gangsta rappers.

Well, maybe the former. I actually can't fathom the latter now that I try.

Well, you're talking about a planet of people who look like a whole race of Mortiis's!!!

(NOTE: although Mortiis hasn't really been 'Black Metal' lately, if ever. He was in Emperor a long time ago. His early solo stuff was great, but now....)

It only makes sense!

Plus typical Black Metal lyrics revolve around being extremely "evil" and has a "warrior, let's go conquere" themes.

I could see Lotor listening to Hip Hop after listening to Snoop, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, & Juvenile. He's the type to be into Metal, but would find the lifestyle in Hip Hop rather interesting.

Especially with him & his harem girls. Lotor would get some pretty good ideas from them Pimp Rappers. He'd have them harem girls out trickin & also go around calling himself a pimp.

If you mean having an interest in sexy women? Only those who listen to hip hop like sexy women???

Do you mean destroying your enemies? That's not exclusive to the "hip hop" style either.

I'm sorry, I just don't see the "hip hop" thing. He doesn't speak any of the slang that you're speaking. He doesn't dress "hip hop" as far as I can tell.

But again, we're all free to enjoy Voltron and music or whatever, in anyway we please.

If you fancie Lotor into hip hop, then by all means, enjoy.

Just realize not everyone will have that same vision.

I think Princess Iris is talking about a certain kind of attitude while I'm focusing more on asthetics.

But I tell you, I seriously could imagine the whole Planet Doom gang listening to OLD Mortiis - which is not Metal in anyway. Think electronic new age music with a dark, atmospheric, midieval ambiance.

I can see Yurak liking something like "Ride of the Valkyries" as far as musical tastes go.

Cossack strikes me as the type who liked loud, grating, industrial or metal type sounds as a teenager and never quite grew out of it.

As a whole, Guns 'N Roses "Appetite for Destruction" album often makes me think of the Doomites.
