It seemed clear that Merla was sending Allura into "the dimension of pain," but it was unclear how long Allura could survive in the "pain dimension."

Maybe Merla got the idea from Barbarella's Dr. Duranduran, who did the exact opposite by creating a machine that would ultimately kill women with pleasure.

The bigger question tied to Merla's pain machine episode is WHY THE HELL DID LOTOR LEAVE THE ROOM SO ALLURA COULD AWAY? That was NOT a credible Voltron moment AT ALL.

This Lotor walking out of the room that Allura is helplessly "sleeping" in is very inconsistent behavior with the Lotor who:
1) chased Allura off a bridge and nearly ripped her dress off
2) Made great efforts to abduct Allura before plans to blow up her castle were fully implemented
3) smashed through Allura's bedroom on some kind of Batman contraption
4) raped Allura's cousin (probably because she looks like Allura)
5) kidnapped Allura in a coffin
6) drools at the sight of snow-covered KEITH, who he thinks is Allura
7) slashed Keith's chest open because Keith prevented Lotor from stealing Allura
8) tied Allura's hands behind her back, shoved her head on his lap, and tried to force her to drink blood wine
9) Sends an invisible monster to kidnap Allura
10) Stalks Allura to the point that she is prepared to shoot herself in the head....

Why did someone have to bring this up again. I was lead to believe Merla was gonna leave Allura in the pain dimension until she died and brind her body out given the way Lotor reacted to the princess disappearing.
