Hopefully this won't be like waving fresh meat in front of the robeast for potential shipping wank, but I was curious as to what Doom pairings people liked, didn't like, found interesting, just plain weird, or even train wrecks that they can't help but look at (or even like) even if they're totally off the wall.

Myself, I'm open to almost any pairing involving the Doomites (even with good guys, assuming they're all kept in character) and I admit that I love reading weird combinations, and think it's awesome when someone makes something off the wall actually work.

Some of my personal favorites:

-Lotor/Merla because they have such an adversarial relationship that creates nice sparks
-Lotor/Cossack because they have such a funny dynamic. This is possibly my favorite slash/yaoi pairing.
-Zarkon/Haggar because it's so messed up and unhealthy
-Yurak/Merla because for some reason, I think they'd have hot sex... even if they have very little else in common.

One Doom pairing I simply can't wrap my mind around:

-Cossack/Haggar. I'm sure someone could probably pull it off, but it really just breaks my brain. Even though they aren't related, Cossack seems to treat her like his cranky grandma or something so it feels like sticking them together would be borderline incestuous. That's really the only Doom pairing off the top of my head that I really have the "Do not want!" reaction to though.

What about the rest of you?

Cossack and Haggar work better as cohorts in crime instead of lovers. But then again, Haggar can take the physical form of anyone (Aunt Orla for example), so theoretically she could take the form of any woman that Cossack desires.

I like the idea of Zarkon taking Allura. For one, the young girl/old guy scenario between them would just be creepy. Secondly, Zarkon could then boast to Lotor that he now possesses Allura. Firing their rivalry even more.

Ones I like are:

Merla/Lotor because it is very dynamic
Zarkon/Hagar because the dysfunction is fun
Yurak/Merla does sound like it could be a lot of fun. I don't wanna think about what kinda of cybernetic prosthetics he'd add to spice up the action

I got a kick out of a Zarkon/Throk yaoi but Throk's a Drule so I don't know if that qualifies


Ones that could be very interesting to see:

Yurak/Zarkon: given Yurak's loyalty, would be interesting to see how this works

Cossack/Mogor: This just screams "Odd Couple" to me on so many levels

Lotor/Hagar: They both have the same issue of unrequited love, yet they both have a nasty, vindictive streak. Interesting power plays abound, since Hagar could use all sorts of spells to help/muck up the relationship. Lotor has shown he can be very sly and manipulative as well. This would be a volatile trainwreck, but if done well, a very cool read.

Weird ones for me:

Zarkon/Lotor: I think I saw this done once in a half-page Pwp. Yeah. Let's leave it at that.

Cossack/Hagar would be very odd, too.

Zarkon/Allura definitely ranks up there on the creep-o-meter scale for me, KBL. I think LadyRissa wrote such a story (she wrote it well) in her Chronicles of Doom fanfic. On the other hand, I agree that it would lead to extra conflict between L and Z, and let's face it, do we really wanna see these two getting along

The A and Z scenario is one concept I'm considering for Allura Does Arus, but it'll be in later chapters. So fair warning to all

I find interesting is that all the Doom characters are being paired with Doom characters. What about the concept of characters such as Yurak or Cossack hooking up with male VF members or possibly Cossack and Nanny (he has a thing for big girls)?

In all honesty, I would love to see a Zarkon/Nanny, simply because it sounds very funny. Zejan did a slew of pictures on this angle to the point where there was a Nanny vs. Hagar match.

Cossack/Lance would be interesting since they both have a sense of humor.

Unconventional is best sometimes, when done correctly. A lot of times it isn't.

I can think of a couple of Doom/Good-Guy pairings that appeal. Lotor/Allura is an obvious one, although I prefer it when Lotor isn't turned good or Allura isn't turned evil to make it work. That actually goes for any good/evil pairing that I like, is that the conflict needs to be addressed so it seems plausible and not OOC.

I thought comicverse Lotor/Sven was a cool pairing, although Lotor/Sven from the show would be harder to pull off without explaining away the Romelle issue. (Even if you want to say Sven was totally gay and in denial, you still gotta account for how he'd feel about knowing how Lotor treated Romelle, even if he felt nothing stronger for her than friendship.)

Lance/Merla has some potential for sparks, they both have charisma and charm and would make quite the flirtatious pair.

Cossack/Lance, hmm, now that's interesting. I never thought about that. They'd probably be competitive, trying to one-up each other with their wit. I could see a love-hate rivalry written out as a ship there.

I can't really picture Yurak paired with any of the VF, male or female, although I have gotten a wicked plotbunny of an idea in the past that hinted at him torturing the hell out of Sven (possibly to the point where he found it arousing - I can see him being a bit of a sadist) after capturing him on Ebb as a way to explain some of the vague "things" Sven said he went through on Doom before he was chucked in the Pit of Skulls.

This is a Doom/Doom pairing, but Ky's post got me thinking about Zarkon/Yurak as well... loyal service to the king through and through!

As for Cossack/Nanny... why do I picture that somewhere including Cossack being spanked?

I think Merla could go with any of the Doom men.

And Nanny does seem to be the dominatrix type.

It would have been nice if there were more females in the cast to team everyone up with.

Until Merla, there was only Haggar on the Doom side. Granted she can alter her appearance, ou still know you're with a really creepy, old woman.

Princess Of Doom/Merla- Not in romantic relationship, cuz the 2 don't go that way. The 2 would have strong friendship & make great "Partners In Crime."

Lotor & Merla- Not the best couple. The 2 clash too much as far as their character.

Merla in my opinion would probably want to go out with every Voltron guy known to man, except for Cossack, since he didn't think too highly of her.

Haggar/Zarkon- The best Doom pairing of all. Zarkon should've just gone ahead & married Haggar & let her be Queen. Due to the combined evil, it would've been appropriate. They also should've conceived kids together.

Regarding Lotor/Lotor, if you haven't seen it, HiroEB actually wrote that one, called "Narcissus' Reflection".

And because inquiring minds want to know... go ahead and bring up what Lotor/Merla go against! The Castle Doom pot needs to be stirred a bit.
